[Football] Grand View Jumps to No. 4 in Latest NAIA Coaches' Top-25 Poll

Kansas City, Missouri – The Grand View University football team jumped into the Top-5 in the latest NAIA Coaches' Top-25 Poll with a No. 4 ranking.

The Vikings defeated the Yellowjackets of Graceland University 56-14 in their last game. With that victory, Grand View is now 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the North Division of the Heart of America Conference.

Jerry Lowe (JR/Tama, IA./ South Tama HS.) continues to rise up the national rushing leaderboard. The junior tailback is now ranked No. 9 and No. 4 in total rushing and rushing yards/game at 889 yards and 127 yards/game respectively. The offense as a whole has had a knack for making the big plays. The offense has converted on 73.3% of their 4th-down conversion attempts. This conversion rate ranks 5th in the country.

The Viking defense continues to be stalwarts against the run. The defensive unit ranks 4th in the NAIA with 127 rushing yards/contest. Tony Anderson (SR/Elancourt, FR / Santa Barbara High School) has helped anchor the Grand View secondary. The senior safety has 4 interceptions on the season as well as 1.7 passes defended/game, which is 11th and 10th-most in the country.

Morningside College stays ranked at No. 1 after a big win on the road against Northwestern College, who was then ranked No. 3. Other Heart of America teams that made the Top-25 Poll were: Benedictine (8), Evangel (11) and Baker (15). The full rankings can be seen below.

Grand View travels next Saturday, September 27th to Canton, Missouri to battle the Culver-Stockton Wildcats. The Wildcats are currently 2-6 overall and 0-2 in the division after a 13-49 loss to the No. 8 Benedictine Ravens. Kickoff is set for 12:00 PM.
