A’s Blake Treinen selected top reliever by Baseball Digest

The A’s closer was selected by Baseball Digest as Major League Baseball’s top reliever in 2018 as the magazine posted its 50th annual awards. Treinen posted an 0.78 ERA in 68 regular-season games for the A’s and had 38 saves. The magazine also selected Boston Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts (32 homers, 30 stolen bases, 129 runs scored) as Player of the Year and New York Mets right-hander Jacob deGrom (10-9, 1.70 ERA, 269 strikeouts) as Pitcher of the Year. The awards were announced Thursday. A 15-person panel including broadcaster Bob Costas, former team executive Jim Duquette and ex-player Eduardo Perez chose the winners.
