[Track and Field] Grand View Track and Field Teams Claim First Place at Dick Young Invite

Grinnell, IA - Results - Several top finishes propelled Grand View University's men's and women's track and field teams to bring home first place at the Dick Young Invitational Saturday at the Darren Young '93 Complex. 

Destiny McGinnis (FR/Pleasant Hill, Iowa) finished first in the women's 200-meter dash with a time of 26.04 seconds along with teammates Ronnoja Ayers and Allie Flaw following second and third. Kennedy King (SR/Davenport, Iowa) took home first place in the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 59.15 seconds followed closely by teammates Chantel Blair (SO/Boone, Iowa) and Katie Roberts (SR/Ankeny, Iowa). 

Michelle Carrillo (SO/Storm Lake, Iowa) placed atop the women's shot put with a mark of 11.35 meters with teammates Katie Halterman (FR/Cedar Falls, Iowa) and Maryn Phillips in second and third.

LaVon Davis (SO/Ames, IA) brought home first in women's discus with a mark of 44.91 meters along with the women's hammer throw with a mark of 51.70 meters.  Davis p automatic automatic

Gannon Svestka on the 200-meter dash posting a season's best time of 22.55 seconds and ran on Grand View's first-place 4x100m relay team that posted a time of 42.44 seconds to help GV men's team win the team title at the Dick Young Invite hosted by Grinnell College. Jake Thompson brought home second place in both the 200 and 400-meter dash for the Vikings. 

James Plummer (JR/Columbia, South Carolina) posted the top mark in the NAIA and Heart Conference winning the discus with an automatic national qualifying mark and meet record of 54.50 meters (178-10). He also won the hammer throw with an automatic national qualifying mark of 57.07m(187-3). Clay Siefken (JR/Burlington, Iowa) was not far behind, placing second in the discus and hammer throw.
