[Softball] St. Ambrose loses doubleheader at Saint Xavier

St. Ambrose fell to 9-9 in the conference and 23-15 overall after losing a doubleheader at Saint Xavier by scores of 9-1 and 4-3 Sunday afternoon in Chicago.

The Bees' lone hit in the opener was Christina Pembrook's RBI triple that scored Logan Frerichs to give the team a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.

SAU managed just one more base runner from there as Frerichs drew a two-out walk in the third in the five-inning loss.

Saint Xavier (17-12, 8-8 CCAC) tied the game in the bottom of the first and took the lead for good in the second. Two Bee errors led to three unearned runs as part of a four-run outburst that gave the Cougars a 5-1 lead. SXU put up four more runs in the third, benefitting from three walks and another SAU error to put the game out of reach.
