[Baseball] Lake Burris' 3-Run Walk-Off Homer Lifts Lions To Extra-Innings Victory
DAYTON, Tenn. – Four homeruns were served up by the 10th-ranked Bryan College baseball team, which helped swipe a come-from-behind walk-off victory in the 11th-inning over visiting Point University (Ga.) in Friday's series-opener. The Lions were trailing the Skyhawks 9-4 heading into the bottom of the eighth when David Scoggins (JR/Marietta, Ga.) launched a two-run bomb to slim the gap to three. Next, it was Fernando Garcia (SR/Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) who crushed a three-run blast off the Senter Field scoreboard in the ninth to tie the game 9-9 and force extra innings. After Point pieced together a run in the top of the 10th, Bryan's Trevor Behrent (SR/Catawissa, Pa.) responded with a solo shot over the fence in right to even the count at 10's. Despite the Skyhawks soaring to a lone run in the top of the 11th, the Lions showed no fatigue and the determination only grew. Cody Young (SR/Collierville, Tenn.) reached on a walk, and Garcia wore a pitch to put two runners on, and then it was all Lake Burris (JR/Chatsworth, Ga.) who battled for a 2-2 count before towering a three-run tank over the left-field fence to deliver Bryan a thrilling 13-11 win in walk-off fashion!
