[Men's Lacrosse] Lacrosse Team Gives National Power Ocean County College a Scare

Early on in Wednesday night's home game, the Williamson lacrosse team found themselves down 6-0 to Ocean County College.  Considering OCC won the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XIX championship and is considered to be one of the better programs in the entire NJCAA, perhaps no one was surprised by that.  What did however shock those in the lacrosse world was the way the Mechanics came storming back to make a run at a comeback, before falling short, in a 12-6 loss to the Vikings.

While Williamson would lose the game, their heart and determination were clearly on display as they matched Ocean goal for goal in the second half.  Jim Carey led the way for Williamson as he had two goals and two assists, while Gino DiCamillo and Jacob Long (FR/Newtown Square, PA) both had two goals each.  Goalie Anthony Mariani (SR/Warrens, NY) had an incredible game in goal, as he stopped 28 shots on the night.

While Williamson falls to 0-2 on the year, their losses have come to the defending NCLL national champions and the NJCAA Region XIX champion.  Each time out Williamson has improved and has shown they are ready to make some noise in the NCLL Liberty Division play-off picture.
