[Women's Soccer] Ella Ritchie named to United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region Team
Kansas City, Mo. – The United Soccer Coaches, formerly the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, announced their annual Scholar All-Region teams over the weekend.
Ella Ritchie (SR/Derby, England) represented the Grand View women's soccer program after a terrific season being named to the 2017 United Soccer Coaches NAIA Women's Scholar All-North Region Team. Ritchie guided the Vikings to an 11-7 record, 8-4 in the Heart and a fourth-place finish in the conference. Ritchie helped produce several key game-winning goals throughout the season. Ritchie currently ranks no. 31 in the NAIA in total game-winning goals with four. Ritchie is one of only three Heart of America Athletic Conference women soccer athletes to receive this award.
Ritchie also was named to the 2017 Heart of America All-Conference Second-Team honors along with NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors.
To earn a spot on the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America team, a student-athlete must have a 3.30 GPA, started more than 50 percent of all games, significantly contributed to their team, been nominated by their head coach and be a Junior or above in academic standing.
