[Soccer] Soccer vs Bacone
Soccer Travels To Muskogee, OK
Opening the season with victories over Central Christian College the Friends University soccer teams will travel to Muskogee, OK on Tuesday, September 3 to face the Warriors of Bacone College.
Falcon Women's Soccer showed an electric spark in their 5-2 victory over Central Christian and will look to continue their offensive ways against the Warriors. Stephanie House, a midfielder from Aurora, CO paced the Falcon attack in the Central Christian game by scoring goals in the first and second half to lead the team into this second game of the season. Bacone is playing their first regular season game of the season after scrimmage contests versus Northeastern Oklahoma and Paris Junior College.
The Warriors are coached by Tashana Taylor who is in her second season at the helm. Last season Bacone finished 6-13 overall and 5-5 in conference play. In the Red River Athletic Conference preseason polls the Warriors are picked to finish third in the 12 member alliance. Bacone is counting on the return of 15 players from last season who saw game action to achieve or exceed the preseason predictions.
Friends University and Bacone College have not played each other since the 2006 season when the Falcons lost to the Warriors 3-0.
The teams will play the September 3 contest at 2:00 p.m.
Falcon Men's Soccer is looking to build on their opening game win versus Central Christian and will attempt to maintain a balanced scoring attack similar to the Central game when three different players scored goals in the 3-1 victory.
The Bacone men start 2013 with a new head coach in James Carter. The Warriors began the season with scrimmages against Central Baptist and Northeaster State in preparation for their first regular season game against the Falcons.
Bacone will look to improve upon a 2-15 overall and 2-9 conference record in 2012.
The Falcons and Warriors last met in 2006 when Friends University earned a 2-0 victory.
Game time for Tuesday's contest is 4:00 p.m.
