[Football] Falcons Shut Out Warriors

0

Friends University Football traveled to Sterling Saturday night to open KCAC play.

The Falcons defeated the Warriors of Sterling College 31-0 in a game dominated by Friends University from the opening kickoff.

Friends University was determined to control the contest as the Falcon defense was quick in pursuit and frustrated the Warrior offense by not allowing a Sterling first down until the third quarter. The Warrior's ran a total of 41 plays for 49 yards on the night.  Falcon linebacker Marcus Carter ignited the defense with an interception return for touchdown midway through the second quarter.

The Falcon's took advantage of their opportunities by managing the clock in executing 81 plays which generated 445 yards in total offense. Quarterback Aaron Hansen was solid in connecting on 19 of 31 passes for 250 yards before giving way to James Bauer. Wide receiver Chris Allen showed why he is among the best of KCAC receivers as noted by his seven catches for 117 yards and one touchdown.

The Falcons amassed 22 first downs to only three for the Warriors.

If there was a lowlight in the game for Friends University it would have been the three fumbles of which two resulted in turnovers for Sterling College.

Friends University improves to 2-1 on the season and will now prepare for a home game versus Southwestern College on Saturday, September 28.

Both Friends and Southwestern will be looking to stay undefeated in the conference as the Moundbuilders opened their conference schedule with a 24-14 win over Kansas Wesleyan University.

Game time at Adair-Austin stadium is 7:00 p.m.
