[Baseball] Evangels Fall to RSU, 14-4

4.22.10 - Oklahoma City, Okla.- The Mid-America Christian University baseball team dropped game one of their three-game series with Rogers State University 14-4 on Thursday afternoon at Evangel Field.
Both teams added a run in the first frame but the Hillcats took the lead in the second inning, adding six runs off four hits and one error.
RSU increased their lead in the fourth with solo shot by Luis Caraballo and a RBI single by Colton West that scored Zach Hamby who doubled the earlier in the inning.
The Evangels made it a 9-2 game with a single by Dan Heskin, plating Adrian Bravo-Carmona who reached base after being hit by a pitch.
In the fifth, a sacrifice fly by Sam Lewis brought Brian Carter across home plate. Carter led off the inning with a double main it a 9-3 game.
The Hillcats used two hits and an error to added two more runs in the top of the six to extend their lead to 11-3.
Caraballo led off the top of the eighth with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Hamby making the score 12-3.
Rob Rodriguez hit a two run bomb in the ninth to round out RSU's scoring, taking a 14-3 lead into the bottom half of the inning,
MACU added one run in the bottom of the frame to end the game 14-4.
The Evangels had 16 hits on the day compared to RSU who had 15 hits. MACU left 11 batters stranded while the Hillcats left eight men on base.
RSU shortstop Luis Caraballa hit for the cycle with a double in the first, a single in the second, a homer in the fourth and finished with a triple in the eighth. He is only the second player in RSU baseball history to hit for the cycle. On the day he went 4-6, driving in four runs and scoring four runs.
Thomas Peabody suffered the loss on the mound allowing nine runs, three earned on nine hits with five strikeouts in 3.2 innings of work. His counterpart, Grant Cosby got the win pitching seven innings, allowing three runs on 12 hits with four strikeouts.
The Evangels will conclude their series with the Hillcats on Saturday with a doubleheader at RSU.
