Racers pushed their equipment to the limit (and in some cases past it) in the quest for an Ironman at the second race in the 2026 IHRA Outlaw Nitro series at Darana-Virginia this past weekend. Photo highlights provided by Dave Oakes

John DeFlorian dipped into the 3’s during testing, but couldn’t duplicate it on Friday or Saturday.

Dale Creasy Jr. is undefeated in 2026. This time, he took out Del Worsham with a 3.194 at 278.40 in the funny car final.

Paul Miller defeated up-in-smoke, out-of-shape opponent Ryan Hill for the fuel altered Ironman.

After a 9-year absence, Allen Johnson wheeled the Caruso MMPS to a few runs in the 4.0 range.

Jon Capps filled in for an ailing Jasmine Salinas in the Scrappers top fueler.

Tony Wilson took home the Pro Mod Ironman in The Ironman with a 3.58 over Jason Harris.

Jay Payne and Phil Burkhart Jr. debuted this Charger fuel funny car, but failed to qualify.

For the second straight race, Johnny Pluchino faced Jordan Ensslin in the MMPS final, and Pluchino again took the win at 4.01.

Scott Palmer drove around Gary Pritchett with a 3.07 at 270.54 for the top fuel title.

In a battle of red Camaros, Bubba Stanton won the Outlaw Pro Mod race when Hank Stubbs went red.

Jackie Fricke won Top Alcohol Dragster when Joey Severance experienced tire shake off the line.

Two beautiful cars faced off in the top sportsman final. Mike Alexander cut a better light to hold off a quicker Bob Mandell III.
