2018 Championship Points Racing finale scheduled SUNDAY, OCT. 21 at Volunteer Speedway; ‘Pink Out’ Breast Cancer Awareness Racing For A Cure BULLS GAP, Tenn. — The 2018 Championship Points Racing finale is scheduled SUNDAY, OCT. 21 at Volunteer Speedway. Think Pink 2.0 will bring attention to October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with competitors encouraged to display pink graphics on the race cars. Also, it will be topless night at “The Gap” as race teams are allowed to remove the roofs off the race cars. Crate Late Model, Sportsman Late Model, Modified Street, Open Wheel Modified, Classic and 602 Street Stock will be in action on the high banks. There will also be a ladies’ Powder Puff event and kids’ Power Wheels race. Adult grandstand admission $10, kids age 12-and-under admitted free in the grandstands (when accompanied by an adult). Adult pit and tier-parking admission $25, kids age 12-and-under $15 (with an adult signed release). Grandstand and pit gates open SUNDAY, OCT. 21 at 11 a.m. … Drivers’ meeting is scheduled at 1:30 p.m., immediately followed by hot laps, qualifying, and green flag racing. The car count at Volunteer Speedway this season has been outstanding, and arguably no other racetrack in the state of Tennessee (the entire Southeast for that matter) has seen the overall number of drivers compete in at least one race during the current campaign (318 through the most recent racing program Saturday, Oct. 6) to equal “The Gap.” … The totals are as follows: Crate Late Model (80), Sportsman Late Model (78), Modified Street (52), Classic (45), and 602 Street Stock (10). … Before Championship Points Racing events for Steel Head Late Model were sidelined in the middle of May, car count stood at (32). Open Wheel Modified have been in action on six occasions with car count of (21). Late Model championships have been wrapped up by the Sise brothers – Trevor (Crate Late Model) and Zach (Sportsman Late Model), each holding a commanding points lead in their division. Trevor Sise of Knoxville sits atop the Crate Late Model points leaderboard with 298, while Rusty Ballenger and Gary Crittenden are tied for second place (264), followed by Tim Byrd (2013, ’15 and ’16 champion) in fourth at 258, with Tim Maupin fifth (202). … Sise and Jensen Ford each have captured three Crate Late Model feature wins, while Tim Byrd has two victories. Rusty Ballenger, Josh Henry, Jason Welshan and Cory Hedgecock each have made it into victory lane once. Zach Sise of Knoxville leads the Sportsman Late Model standings with 323 points, while Jed Emert has 277, followed by Vic Chandler (254), Brad Seagle (222), and Jake Whitehead with 162. … The 18-year-old Sise leads the way with five Sportsman Late Model feature wins, Emert has two victories, while Alvey, Travis Fultz, Kip Sawyer, Bradley Lewelling and Matt Tharp each have one win. Gary Blanken of Russellville leads Modified Street point standings with 391, followed by Shanon Emery at 378, Wayne Rader (289), Dustin Ratliff (272), and David Clark with 248. … Blanken and Brad Davis each have four Modified Street feature...
