Razorbacks Open SEC Play in the Music City

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 31 Arkansas men’s tennis team (12-1) heads to Nashville, Tenn. to begin league play against the Vanderbilt Commodores (3-6) on Thursday, March 2 at 4 p.m. CT. The Razorbacks have won their last seven matches, their longest win streak since 2016.

Arkansas’ last time out was on Sunday against Omaha where the Razorbacks rallied back after dropping the doubles point to defeat the Mavericks, 5-2. It was only the second time this season that the Hogs did not take doubles and the first time they went on to win the match after losing the point. On court six, freshman Gerard Planelles Ripoll has won six-straight matches and holds an 11-1 overall record to lead the team in wins. In doubles, Adrien Burdet and Melvin Manuel have continued to show their dominance as a duo, winning their last four matches to maintain a perfect 4-0 record at the top spot.

The Commodores are coming off a 1-4 loss to No. 13 Northwestern with their lone point coming from doubles. The duo of Michael Ross and Nathan Cox clinched the point for Vanderbilt, leading the team with a 5-3 record on court two to win their last three matches. In singles, Cox holds strong at the No. 2 position with a 5-4 record this dual season to lead to Commodores.

Live stats and video are available on the men’s tennis schedule page.
