It was another strong year for girls wrestling. Western North Carolina had its first state champions since the NCHSAA sanctioned girls wrestling three years ago. After two years of open class wrestling, the state meet included five classifications in 2025-26 – a 1A-4A meet and one each for 5A-8A. Four wrestlers won a state championship, including one undefeated title winner and two one-loss champions. Twenty wrestlers finished in the top three.
