East Lansing — To Cassius Winston, records are meant to be broken, even if they’re his own. So when Jeremy Fears Jr. broke Winston’s single season assists record in Friday’s Big Ten Tournament loss to UCLA with 294 helpers and counting, Winston saw that as the continuation of history. “That’s what it’s there for,” Winston told The Detroit News on a phone call from halfway around the world in Serbia. “Somebody sets the record for the next person to come and get it.
