Grand Rapids defense sparks win over Hibbing in section final
DULUTH — With time starting to wind down, Grand Rapids junior Ethan Morgan made a steal at half-court and turned it into a layup against Hibbing in the Section 7AAA final Friday at Duluth East. The steal came in the middle of an eight-point run for the Thunderhawks to put them up seven, and they would go on to win 60-53. The offense was nice, but it was the defense that led to Grand Rapids first spot at state since 2017. “It was just a great feeling,” Morgan said. “We were just playing disciplined defense the whole game.
