Golf's fifth major heads into its second round with plenty of action near the top of the leaderboard at the 2026 Players Championship. Maverick McNealy, Sepp Straka, Sahith Theegala and Lee Hodges ended the first round in the lead with 5-under 67s, while Justin Thomas and Russell Henley were among those right behind. Austin Smotherman was tied with the leaders but was unable to finish his first round due to darkness.
