IOWA CLASS 1A STATE WRESTLING: Audubon sends four to state, plus first-round recap

HOLSTEIN – The Audubon wrestling team entered the Iowa Class 1A state qualifying meet Saturday, Feb. 14, with a chip on its shoulder. Of the top four teams at the meet at Ridge View High School, the Wheelers were the lone team not invited to the regional dual team tournament. They wanted to show they were a good team with plenty of state-quality wrestlers. Mission accomplished. Four will be heading to Casey’s Center and the state wrestling promiseland. Leyton Elmquist at 113 pounds and Lane Meyer at 285 pounds will be going as district champions. Jon Rasmussen and Karter Obermeier, at 138 and 150, respectively, will be going as runners-up.
