Louisville City FC, USL eager for new promotion and relegation system

Louisville City FC, a perennial contender in the top flight of the United Soccer League, will have a little more to play for when the USL looks to uplift its member clubs with what officials see as a more competitive system. Promotion and relegation, a concept overseas soccer leagues have used for decades to award high-performing teams in lower divisions and root out struggling clubs, is set to be installed in three USL divisions starting in 2028.
