Boys basketball: Bertke’s big night leads Shawnee past Columbus Grove

COLUMBUS GROVE – Somewhere in the second half of the high school boys basketball season, Shawnee’s Beckett Bertke decided he could be doing more. Specifically, the 6-6 senior who already led Shawnee in scoring and rebounding made rebounding an even bigger priority. The results of that decision took center stage in Shawnee’s 72-58 win at Columbus Grove on Tuesday night when Bertke led the Indians with 32 points and 19 rebounds. “I’ve realized that when I’m more of an effective rebounder, our rebounding is a lot better.
