DNR encouraging people to register for hunting education classes
The Department of Natural Resources is encouraging people in Wisconsin with an interest in hunting or firearm safety to register for a 2026 hunter education course. The DNR and its network of volunteer hunter education instructors will offer many hundreds of courses across the state this year but spots are limited. The state first offered hunter education in 1967 and it became mandatory in 1985. Anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 1973, is required to hold a hunter education certificate to purchase a hunting license unless hunting under the Mentored Hunting Law.
