Mitchell boys cruise past ESD rival Yankton with efficient offense

MITCHELL — Following an improbable comeback victory in overtime on Tuesday, there were no negative aftereffects, emotional or physical, for the Mitchell High School boys basketball team on Friday night. In high gear offensively from the opening tip, the Kernels raced to a 69-53 win, leading wire-to-wire to dispatch rival Yankton in an Eastern South Dakota Conference matchup at the MHS Gym. Any concern of a Mitchell lapse coming off of Tuesday’s dramatics was quickly dispelled, as the Kernels (4-2, 2-1 ESD) jumped out to a 10-1 lead midway through the first quarter.
