PREP GIRLS WRESTLING: Atlantic hosts dual team tournament

ATLANTIC – Atlantic’s Leiah Thomas finished the night with a 3-0 record to lead the Trojans at their own dual team tournament Friday. Thomas, a sophomore who came in with a No. 9 ranking by IAwrestle in Class 1A, won all three of her matches, including a state-ranked showdown with Missouri Valley’s Ryley Marcum. The biggest win was over Marcum, who was ranked third in Class 1A coming into the evening, but Thomas controlled much of the action before pinning Marcum in 4:17. Thomas also pinned Council Bluffs Lewis Central’s Peyton Katzer in 2:41, with the Titans opting to not send Kalen Jo Westerfield, who was ranked fourth in Class 2A, to face Thomas.
