On the Water: Newport to Ensenada yacht race returns in April

April 26 marks the 78th running of the famous Newport to Ensenada (N2E) yacht race.Organizers are going “Back to Its Roots,” returning race headquarters, celebrations and trophy presentations to downtown Ensenada. Riviera Civic & Cultural Center in downtown Ensenada will be the hub of activity. When the center was originally built nearly 100 years ago as a hotel and casino, the Riviera welcomed Hollywood’s elite. Bar Andaluz, located at the Riviera, claims to be the birthplace of the margarita. To encourage sailors to return downtown, regatta organizers have negotiated with downtown hotels for special rates.
