It may not be the IHSA state championship in football, but 20 years after the Prospect Knights won their state title in 2005, the Mount Prospect Lions brought home a state title in the Chicagoland Youth Football League (TCYFL) varsity division. The Mount Prospect Lions (9-3) competed in the TFCYL BIG 10 varsity division and opened and closed the season with games against Cary — though with very different results. During week one of the season, Aug. 31, Cary knocked off Mount Prospect, 28-8.
