The TSSAA is working with Tennessee state lawmakers to craft language for a one-time transfer law that would allow high school athletes one free transfer for any reason in between school years. In a stark turnaround, Tennessee high school principals surveyed by the TSSAA are now 60% in favor of a one-time transfer rule for any reasons, as opposed to keeping the current TSSAA rule, which allows one free transfer only for significant academic, social-emotional, environmental or mental health needs.
