Alex Pereira’s Bold Claim: “40% Performance” at UFC 313 and His Deadly Full Potential

Alex Pereira doesn’t believe he was anywhere near his best at UFC 313.

This Saturday night, he aims to avenge the loss from March that cost him the light heavyweight title.

A tense face-off between Pereira and Magomed Ankalaev followed the UFC 320 press conference on Thursday evening in Las Vegas.

Many anticipate a significantly improved performance from Pereira this weekend, after he took time off to rest and recover before re-entering the Octagon.

‘Poatan’ recently made a stunning declaration regarding his true capabilities, after evaluating his own showing earlier this year.

Alex Pereira Warns of Lethal Potential at 100 Percent, After Claiming Less Than Half Capacity at UFC 313

As Alex Pereira seeks to break Daniel Cormier’s record, he is confident he will deliver a much stronger performance at UFC 320.

Considerable discussion arose concerning the then-defending champion’s constant fighting schedule and its potential impact leading up to his first fight with Magomed Ankalaev.

Pereira was defeated by Ankalaev at UFC 313, and the Brazilian recently disclosed on The Brian Campbell Experience that he believes he was operating at less than half of his potential.

“Honestly, I was about 40% for that fight, on that night,” Pereira stated. “And obviously it’s gonna be much more this time. If I’m only 50%, that 10% is gonna make such a great difference. I’m gonna leave no doubt for everybody.”

During a UFC fight week interview, Pereira was later asked what his 100 percent would look like, especially given his competitive performance even at a significantly lower capacity.

The former champion responded with a stark warning, suggesting that “no one wants to find out” what his full potential entails.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been at a 100 percent. I think if I was at 100 percent in fighting, I’d probably kill someone.”

Alex Pereira Aims to Replicate a UFC Legend’s Rare Achievement at UFC 320

While Alex Pereira’s loss to Magomed Ankalaev may have momentarily dimmed his star, his accomplishments in the UFC remain noteworthy.

Recapturing the light heavyweight title and avenging his defeat would not only reinstate ‘Poatan’s’ status as one of the sport’s premier stars but also

make him only the second fighter in UFC history to become a three-time champion across two distinct weight classes.

The sole fighter to previously achieve this remarkable feat is Randy Couture, who secured the light heavyweight championship by defeating Tito Ortiz at UFC 44 in 2003.
