Sadly, this Wednesday, news broke of the death of Arturo Gatti’s son in Mexico City. Chuck Zito, a bodyguard for the late Arturo Gatti, Sr. indicated on social media that the younger Gatti took his own life, “It’s with a heavy heart that I have to say,…. R.I.P. to 17-year-old ARTURO GATTI JR., the same way they found his Father dead in an apartment in Brazil 16 years ago.”

Arturo Gatti Jr., 17, was training to fight in the Golden Gloves, and others indicate he was also close to making his unofficial professional debut.

In June, there were reports of his possible debut in professional boxing, but it ultimately fell through.

Arturo Jr. had been involved in boxing since he was 6 years old when he was spotted practicing at the Ring 83 Gym near his home in Montreal, Canada.

Two weeks ago, the younger Gatti had posted on Instagram, an AI generated photo of himself and his father, clad in boxing gloves and trunks, seen here.

Gatti, Sr. passed away 16 years ago when Jr. was just one year old. His wife Amanda Rodrigues was charged with his murder, his an autopsy deemed his death a suicide,

and she was released.
