Golden Boy Promotions president Eric Gomez emphasized the importance of collaboration across promoters, stating that working together ultimately delivers the biggest fights for fans.
“We work with everyone. They build champions, we do too—and eventually, they have to face each other,” Gomez said. “Every time we’ve done business together (PBC & Golden Boy), it’s been successful—Ryan vs. Tank, Canelo vs. Munguía—and this event will be no different.”
Gomez also highlighted the growing importance of the Mexican market, especially with fights now reaching audiences through free-to-air television.
“If you make it in Mexico, you make it worldwide,” he said. “Mexican fans are loyal—to their fighters, their soccer teams, their artists, everything. That support carries everywhere.”
He added that fighters like Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramírez are eager to reconnect with fans back home after building their careers in the United States.
“It’s been years since they’ve seen him in Mexico, and now they will. That matters,” Gomez said.
