Correa set for 'lengthy rehabilitation program' in the US
F2 racer Juan Manuel Correa remains in a stable condition in Liège, but doctors have revealed that the 19-year-old driver will face a lengthy rehabilitation process in the coming months.
Correa was involved in Saturday's horrendous crash in F2's feature race that claimed the life of 22-year-old Anthoine Hubert.
The American-Ecuadorian driver suffered multiple fractures to both legs during the impact and underwent lengthy surgery on Sunday according to his personal website.
The update stated that Correa - with his parents at his side and providing support - is fully aware of the events that occurred at Spa and overwhelmed with sadness.
The Sauber Junior Team Charous driver has sent his well wishes and prayers to the Hubert family.
The statement adds that "Juan Manuel and his family are very thankful to all of the fans for messages voicing their concern.
"Once his injuries have stabilized, doctors will determine when he can be transferred back to the United States via an Air Ambulance to continue with a very lengthy rehabilitation program."
