Manchester United eye move for Arsenal outcast with just one Premier League start

0 9

Manchester United are reportedly considering a summer move for Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly, who has endured a challenging campaign marked by limited Premier League opportunities.

The England international has struggled for consistent game time at the Emirates Stadium this season, making just one Premier League start, in the 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Across all competitions, Lewis-Skelly has featured in 27 matches, contributing four assists in 1,298 minutes of action.

Despite showing promise during his breakthrough campaign last term, the youngster has slipped down the pecking order, falling behind players such as Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapié.

He made 42 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring once and registering three assists.

His impressive breakthrough campaign was rewarded with an improved five-year contract at the Emirates Stadium.

However, the lack of regular minutes has intensified speculation about his long-term future at the club.

According to Sky Sports reporter Danyal Khan, Manchester United are preparing to make a move to lure the versatile full-back to Old Trafford when the transfer window opens.

Lewis-Skelly is among several defensive targets being monitored by the Red Devils, alongside Lewis Hall of Newcastle United and Nathaniel Brown of Eintracht Frankfurt.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are believed to be open to offloading a first-team player this summer as they seek to generate funds to strengthen the squad ahead of next season.

On the international stage, Lewis-Skelly’s situation could have wider implications.

Despite earning six caps for England since his debut last March, his limited involvement at club level has seen him omitted from the latest squad for upcoming friendlies against Uruguay and Japan.

With the World Cup approaching, continued inactivity could jeopardize his chances of securing a place in the national team.
