Sports Briefs: Holden paces Tam water polo past San Domenico in MCAL debut

Roan Holden scored a team-high four goals to lead Tam to a 17-1 win at San Domenico in the MCAL opener for both teams on Tuesday. Declan Murphy had a hat trick as 11 different players scored for Tam (1-2, 1-0 league). Sophomore goalie, Ethan Wallace totaled 12 blocks for the Red-tailed Hawks.

Finn McDonald had the lone goal for San Domenico (0-1). Panthers junior goalie Demyd Korsak had 15 blocks.

Girls volleyball

Sierra Treewater had a team-high 11 kills and Josie Campo added 10 kills and 14 digs to pace Terra Linda during a 25-16, 25-22, 25-22 win against San Domenico on Monday. Ryan Jefferys added seven kills and three blocks for TL (6-1). Tess Hazelrigg had 15 assists, four kills, and three aces. Mia Patino had 21 digs, three assists, and three aces against San Domenico (1-6).

Girls tennis

Bianca Botero-Cortes earned a solid two-set singles win to lock up Tam High’s 5-2 victory over Marin Academy at Dominican University on Monday. Botero-Cortes won 6-2, 6-1 over Rani Hadded. Annika Hakes and Payton Dunn won at No. 3 and No. 4 singles. Tam’s No. 1 doubles team of Chloe Mouret-Lafage and Siena Moglen won in a tiebreaker.

The Wildcats’ Ann McDermott took home an impressive 6-4, 2-6, 11-9 victory over Maya Riisgaard at No. 1 singles, and Marin Academy also won at No. 3 doubles with Reese Goodenough and Sky Wenner.

• Marin Catholic swept former rival Justin-Siena, 7-0, in Kentfield on Monday. Ariana Bazan, Christiane Zuber, Natalie Martin and Ellie Damiani all earned singles wins for the Wildcats.

Girls golf

Sidney Kawahara shot a 1-under 35 at Peacock Gap on Monday to pace Branson (3-1) to a 179-209 victory over Archie Williams. Nira Bar-Cohen shot a 49 to lead the Peregrine Falcons.

• Novato High’s Hayley Picetti earned medalist honors with a 46 at Marin Country Club, but Archie Williams earned the win, 224-244, over the Hornets on Tuesday. Kaiya Chiu shot a 52 to lead the Peregrine Falcons.

• Elsa Anderson and Stephanie Zola tied for medalist honors with 3-over 39s at Presidio Golf Course on Tuesday as Marin Academy stretched its undefeated start in the Bay Counties League. The Wildcats (3-0) outshot Bay 178-248.
