Sports Briefs: Marin girls highlight water polo honors

Four girls from Marin County were named to the California-Hawaii All-American Water Polo list. Ella Woodhead of San Rafael, a senior at Sacred Heart Prep in Atherton, was named to the first team.

Redwood’s Gwen Kallmeyer and Tam’s Maja Layden were named to the fourth team, while Marin Catholic’s Thea Falvey is on the eighth team.

The list includes 160 girls from high schools in California and Hawaii.

Baseball

The San Rafael Pacifics, less than a week after suffering only their second loss of the season, look to avenge that defeat against the Santa Cruz Seaweed during a two-game set at Albert Park on Thursday and Friday.

The Pacifics (12-2) are coming off a 8-7 victory over Martinez on Tuesday, when Shigetoshi Hasegawa pitched six innings for the win and helped his own cause with a two-run homer.
