The best of Water Polo in Scotland took to Tollcross Pool this weekend for the Scottish National Water Polo Cup Championships, treating the crowd to six quality finals.

Dunfermline WPC took home two titles with the Senior Ladies Graz Trophy and the U16 Dave Balbirnie Cup, but they were edged out in the Men's showpiece Scottish Cup final by Portobello ASC. Stirling WPC claimed the U16 Willie Mellors Cup and U19 Malta Trophy, whilst Kirkintilloch secured their first ever national trophy with the U19 Annette Mooney Cup.

The opening match was the Girls U16 David Balbirnie Cup between Dunfermline and Kirkintilloch, with the latter claiming a comfortable 17-6 victory.

We were treated to more goals in the next final, with Stirling securing a massive 39-9 win over Portobello in the U16 Willie Mellors Cup.

Dunfermline lifted their second trophy of the day in the Ladies Graz Trophy. A fast-paced match against Portobello ended 12-5, with the Fifers in splendid form.

Portobello retained their crown as Mens Scottish Cup champions with a fantastic win over Dunfermline. A tense game finished 12-6 with Portobello claiming their first and only piece of silverware of the day

Spectators were in fine voice for the next final as Kirkintilloch claimed their first national Water Polo title with a fine 13-5 win over Dunfermline. This was the first appearance at a finals for the club and they were visibly delighted to get their hands on the trophy.

Our final match of the day was contested between Stirling and Dunfermline. The crowd were in fine voice as the boys played out a tightly contested tie for the U19 Malta Trophy. It was Stirling who came out on top in a 14-9 win to grab their second piece of silverware for the day.
