Moving on: USA men beat Brazil to advance to Olympics men’s volleyball semis

PARIS — The USA men are back in the Olympics volleyball semifinals.

They beat Brazil on Monday 26-24, 28-30, 25-19, 25-19 to cap a wild day at South Paris Arena 1 that saw two of the four matches end in reverse sweeps.

After a day off, the Americans play Poland, which advanced with a sweep of Slovenia.

Ageless opposite Matt Anderson led the USA with 17 kills and three blocks. TJ DeFalco had 15 kills and a block Max Holt had nine kills, two blocks and two ces and Aaron Russell had 11 kills. Thomas Jaeschke, who came in for Russell, had five kills.

The USA won bronze in Rio in 2016, but failed to advance to the Tokyo Olympics quarterfinals.
