New Delhi: The Indian cricket team relaxed with beach volleyball in Barbados on Monday ahead of their first Super 8 clash against Afghanistan in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. After their final Group A match against Canada was abandoned due to torrential rains, the Men in Blue arrived on the Caribbean island, the players took advantage of some downtime to unwind on the beautiful beaches of Barbados, the video of which was shared by the BCCI.

In the video, Virat Kohli, Rinku Singh, Avesh Khan, Yuzvendra Chahal, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Arshdeep Singh were seen enjoying themselves. The relaxed atmosphere provided a welcome break for the players who have been on the road since the Indian Premier League started in March before Rohit Sharma’s men resume their campaign in the tournament.

In the video, Khaleel Ahmed, part of travelling reserve, was praising volleyball skills of Rinku and Jaiswal.”We have pretty good players in our team like Rinku Singh and Yashasvi Jaiswal,” he said. Meanwhile, India entered the Super 8 stage with an unbeaten record in the group stage. They secured their second round spot last week with a decisive victory over the co-hosts USA at the Nassau County International Stadium in New York.

This victory came on the heels of earlier triumphs over Ireland and Pakistan, showcasing India’s dominance and secured a top position in the points table. The washout against Canada did little to dampen their spirits, as the team already demonstrated their prowess and determination throughout the group stage, making them one of the title contenders.

Jasprit Bumrah has been one of India’s extraordinary players so far with some excellent bowling performances. Axar Patel has displayed his all-round skills with both bat and ball, while Arshdeep Singh showcased bowling prowess with both new and old ball. However, India’s batting unit is still a concern, but a lot of that might be due to the horrible pitches in NY.

India will start their Super 8 campaign on June 20, against Afghanistan at Barbados. Then they head to Antigua to face Bangladesh two days before facing Australia at the St Lucia on June 24. All of India’s games will start at 8 PM IST.

India’s Super 8 Fixtures

June 20: India vs Afghanistan, Bridgetown, Barbados (8 PM IST)

June 22: India vs Bangladesh, North Sound, Antigua (8 PM IST)

June 24: India vs Australia, Gros Islet, St Lucia (8 PM IST)
