[SAU Bees] St. Ambrose leads CCAC with 57 fall sport academic all-conference selections

CHICAGO --- St. Ambrose University gained the most fall sports all-academic selections when the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference released all 388 awardees representing each of the 15 member schools that garnered the distinction this past season. The Fighting Bees' program totaled 57 recipients and also led the way in the sports of men's soccer and women's volleyball with 15 and 17 spots, respectively.

The only other program to reach the 50 plateau was Trinity Christian College with a total of 52 selections. The Trolls also collected the most awardees in any of the five fall sports recognized – men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball – with 25 individuals garnering all-academic status in women's soccer.

Women's soccer as a whole also produced the most recipients of the fall sports season with 126 individuals capturing the honors.

Also in the top five for total number of honorees was Olivet Nazarene University in the third spot with 46, Cardinal Stritch University at No. 4 with 36 awardees and University of St. Francis one behind with 35 selections for the No. 5 spot. Olivet Nazarene and St. Francis also claimed the top spot in one sport each with the former boasting nine men's cross country recipients and St. Francis having eight awardees in women's cross country.

Robert Morris University Illinois was next in line with 33 total individuals honored followed by Saint Xavier University (27), Trinity International University (25), Roosevelt University (23) and Judson University (21). Calumet College of St. Joseph totaled 13 honorees, Indiana University South Bend seven, Governors State University and Holy Cross College five each and Indiana University Northwest three.

Of the 388 total awardees, 108 were two-time recipients, 47 were three-peat selections and four were named for the fourth time. Twenty individuals also boast a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point average.

To be nominated for one of the five teams, a student-athlete must have been enrolled at their respective CCAC school for a minimum of one academic year, have completed at least 30 semester hours and boast no less than a 3.25 cumulative grade point average.
