[Volleyball] Campbellsville, Reinhardt Top Volleyball on Opening Day of Season

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The 2018 season is officially underway for No. 22 Indiana Wesleyan University as the Wildcats participate in the Crossover Challenge in Bowling Green, Kentucky. IWU opened the weekend with a pair of losses to Campbellsville (Ky.) and Reinhardt (Ga.) – both receiving votes in the NAIA Top-25 Preseason Poll.

SISTER, SISTER

Kelly Miller and Marci Miller combined for 66 kills in the two matches on Friday, accounting for 57-percent of the teams kills. Kelly set a new career-high with 20 kills in the opening match vs. Campbellsville and quickly set a new career mark with 25 vs. Reinhardt.

MIDNIGHT HOUR

The Indiana Wesleyan vs. Reinhardt match was the sixth and final match on Friday on Court 2. The schedule was behind and the contest finished after midnight in Bowling Green which was after 1 a.m. Marion time.

IT’S BEEN AWHILE

The Wildcats begin the season 0-2 for the first time since the 2008 season – 10 years ago. That season turned out alright for the Wildcats as they won the Mid-Central College Conference Tournament championship and qualified for the NAIA National Tournament for the first time in program history.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE

Indiana Wesleyan finishes at the Crossover Challenge on Saturday with two more matches. IWU plays Xavier (La.) at 3 p.m. ET and completes the weekend at 5 p.m. ET vs. No. 1-ranked and defending national champion Lindsey Wilson (Ky.).
