[Men's Volleyball] Vikings Suffer Loss to Ottawa University
Ottawa, Kansas – No. 1 Grand View suffered a 3-1 (17-25, 25-23, 23-25, 27-29) loss to No. 5 Ottawa University. The Vikings now move 14-4 on the season. The last time these two teams met was back in January when Grand View defeated Ottawa 3-2.
Grand View lost the opening set, then fought back to win the second set, but Ottawa finished the match winning sets three and four.
Set One: Grand View University 17 | Ottawa University 25
The Vikings fell to a 9-20 deficit to the Braves. They tried to close the gap, but Ottawa reached 25 points while Grand View had 17 points. Grand View recorded 10 kills while Ottawa recorded 14 kills.
Set Two: Grand View University 25 | Ottawa University 23
Grand View and Ottawa were tied six times until John Chamone (SO/Miami Beach, FL) broke the six-all tie and Grand View jumped to a four-point lead at 12-8. The Vikings held the small lead to win the set 25-23. Grand View had 15 kills and a .481 hitting percentage while the Braves had 15 kills and a .333 hitting percentage.
Set Three: Grand View University 23 | Ottawa University 25
Set three went back and forth all the way up to the last points of the game when Grand View was trailing Ottawa 24-23. The Braves reached the win off their last kill of the game out of 13 total team kills with a .152 hitting percentage. Grand View also had 13 kills in the set with a .189 hitting percentage.
Set Four: Grand View University 27 | Ottawa University 29
The fourth and final set was a close battle. Grand View had a 27-26 lead, but Ottawa tied the set and scored the next two points to win the set and the match. The Vikings finished the match with 18 kills and a .279 hitting percentage. The Braves also had 18 kills and a .256 hitting percentage.

John Chamone led the offense with 25 kills and a .271 hitting percentage. The defense was also led by John Chamone with 13 digs. Alfredo Batista (SR/Bayamon, Puerto Rico) had 30 assists on the night.
