[Volleyball] Tigers show grit, heart to finish strong
Georgetown College volleyball had pride on the line Thursday as the team wrapped up its 2017 season in pool-play at the NAIA National Volleyball Championship.
The No. 17 Tigers (22-6) showed heart and determination behind their three seniors in getting a 25-19, 25-21, 29-27 win. The biggest gut check moment came in set three when opponent Our Lady of the Lake University stormed out to a big lead and eventually held a 22-15 advantage.
GC responded with seven straight points and tied it 22-22. The Saints (24-11) showed grit by getting their first set points at 24-22, 25-24 and 26-25. However, the Tigers proved battle tested with a resurgence of their own capped off by a kill by Caroline Ricks, 27-27, a kill by Jenny Howell, 28-27, and a block by Ricks and Kim Bailey for the win.
