[Volleyball] Hornets Take Down Trojans in Final Game of the Season

HANNIBAL, MO- In their final game of the 2017 season, HSSU looked for a win to end their season on a high note. They did just that with a 3-1 victory over Hannibal-LaGrange University (25-22, 25-20, 12-25, 25-14).

Two Hornets left Hannibal with double digit kills; Miaya Peacock (SR/Champaign, Illinois ) and Niya Jenkins (FR/Chicago, IL) totaled for a combined 27 kills today. Latiyanna Burns (SO/East St. Louis, IL) chipped in 8 kills while Tiffany Hopkins (SO/Chicago, Illinois) and Kiarra Herron (SR/Cahokia, Illinois) both recorded 7 and 6 kills, respectively. Kennedy Netters (SR/Peoria, Illinois ) lead all players today dishing out a match high 41 assists while Ayla Dew (JR/Champaign, Illinios) picked up a game high 25 digs.

Shelby Maupin was the leading force behind the Trojan offense, slamming down a match high 18 kills while her sister, Claire Maupin handed out a team high 22 assists. 

Harris-Stowe ends the season with a 5-13 overall record and a 3-9 record in conference play. Miaya Peacock ends her senior year ranked 2nd in the American Midwest Conference in kills/set (4.3), 1st in service aces/set (0.6), and 13th in total service aces (32). Kennedy Netters also made the top 10 in the conference, coming in 8th in assists/set (8.7). As a team, they finished the regular season ranked 22nd in the nation in service aces/set (2.050) while Peacock brought in an 8th ranking in the country in kills/game (4.310).
