[Volleyball] Comeback Cavs Win Five Set Thriller Against OPSU

GOODWELL, Okla.- The Cavaliers (12-6, 3-3 SAC) pulled off their most impressive comeback of the season at Oklahoma Panhandle State University (4-9, 2-4 SAC), as they took down the Aggies in five sets. St. Gregory's traveled to OPSU Friday morning, and then lost the first two sets of the match 19-25 and 23-25, but then the Cavs came back for revenge in the final three sets. The Cavaliers won a very close third set, 25-23, but then dominated the fourth set 25-11. In the final set of the match, the Cavaliers pulled out to a big lead, but the Aggies made a slight comeback, before the Cavs closed out the set 15-10. 

Gabby Ware (JR/San Antonio, Texas) put on a highly impressive offensive performance with a match-high 18 kills, while hitting for an attack percentage of .471. Krystal Lopez (JR/El Paso, Texas) also had a great night offensively by recording 14 terminations in the match, with a .316 attack percentage. BreAnna Smoak (JR/Iowa Park, Texas) recorded 8 kills and four blocks, while Courtney Murphy (SR/Tulsa, Okla.) added 7 kills and four blocks as well. Murphy also led the Cavaliers with three service aces in the match. Sunny Clark (JR/Dublin, Texas) led the Cavs with 23 assists and also added 10 digs, while Sarah Ahrens (JR/Wichita Falls, Texas) recorded 21 assists and 14 digs on defense. Kayley Davis (SO/Irving, Texas) once again recorded a match-high in digs with 17. 

The Cavaliers will look for their third straight win on Saturday, Sept. 30, when they take on Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas at 11 AM.
