[Women's Tennis] Tigers show fight in national tournament
Georgetown College women's tennis took strides forward and set the foundation upon which coach Jessica Cunningham wants to build. The No. 23 Tigers punched the team's first ticket to the NAIA Tennis National Championship since 2008. The result against No. 11 William Woods University was not what the team had hoped for, but did leave a lot to look forward to in the years to come.
"It was a tough 7-2 loss to William Woods, but boy they fought hard," Cunningham said. "We barely lost three doubles and won one doubles. Madelyn (Kauffman) won six singles for our second point. To know we graduate no one from this team is pretty exciting.
"We had so many coaches come up and congratulate us. Had referees coming up and telling me that our ladies have the best sportsmanship. Next year is going to get really interesting – new goals."
