Carlos Alcaraz Defeats Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon Tennis Finals in Second Consecutive Year

He did it again!

Carlos Alcaraz crushed Novak Djokovic during the men’s finals tennis match on Sunday (July 16) at London’s The Championships, commonly known simply as Wimbledon.

The 21-year-old Spaniard completely overpowered the 37-year-old Serbian in three devastating straights sets, 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4). During last year’s Wimbledon, the five-hour match between the pair went to five sets, 1-6, 7-6 (6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4.

This is Carlos‘s fourth Grand Slam win – French Open 2024, Wimbledon 2023, US Open 2022. Carlos becomes the sixth (and youngest) player to win both Wimbledon and the French Open in the same year, aka Channel Slam, in the Open Era. Also accomplishing this mighty feat include Rod Laver (1969), Bjorn Borg (1978-80), Rafael Nadal (2008, 2010), Roger Federer (2009) and Djokovic (2021).

In the star-studded stands to watch the thrilling match were Princess Catherine of Wales (Kate Middleton) with Princess Charlotte of Wales, Pippa Middleton, Tom Cruise, Zendaya, Julia Roberts (with Danny Moder), Glenn Close, Pierce Brosnan, Andrew Garfield, Paul Mescal, Jamie Dornan, Benedict Cumberbatch with Sophie Hunter, Tom Hiddleston with fiancee Zawe Ashton, Gerard Butler, Grace Jones, Courteney Cox, Luke Evans, Greta Gerwig, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Tom Felton, Cailee Spaeny, Naomi Ackie, and Canadian rapper Mark Lee. Tennis stars in the stands included Emma Radacanu, Andre Agassi, and Chris Evert.
