[Tennis] Tennis Teams Topped by McPherson

Doane Tennis hosted McPherson (Kan.) on Sunday in Crete. The Bulldogs brought in a pair of tough teams with several ranked players in the region. Both of the Tiger teams fell to McPherson, 6-1.

The Doane women posted solid matches throughout the lineup. At 1-singles, Amber Weston (FR/Mead, Colo.) defeated the 6th-ranked player in the NAIA/ITA Central Region, Vanessa Mundo, 6-3, 6-4. Ava Macke (JR/Omaha, Neb.) was narrowly edged by 14th-ranked Erica Paradise, 7-5, 7-6 (10-8) and Brylee Lauby (JR/Lexington, Neb.) was defeated by 9th-ranked Polina Khoroshevskaya, 6-1, 6-4. In doubles, the team of Weston and Lauby lost to 2nd-ranked Paradise/Khoroshevskaya, 6-1.

The Tiger men also faced a tough lineup as the Bulldogs are receiving votes in the NAIA national poll. Jorge Chevez (JR/Panama City, Panama) picked up a win of regionally-ranked players, defeating 7th-ranked Julien Bodin, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (12-10). Federico Infante (FR/Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) dropped his match to 13th-ranked Michael Beltran, 6-1, 6-1, and Esteban Gutierrez (FR/Panama City, Panama) lost to 15th-ranked Martin Millos, 6-3, 6-3. In doubles, the team of Chevez/Gutierrez lost to Millos/Turley, the 25th-ranked doubles team in the NAIA, 6-1.
