Virtual Madrid Open: Live stream FREE, start time and schedule as Andy Murray and Rafa Nadal play in charity tournament

SUPERSTARS from the world of tennis are swapping their racquets for controllers to take part in the Virtual Madrid Open this week.

With the event cancelled because of the global pandemic, it will be the turn for players from the ATP and WTA tours to do battle on the video game Tennis World Tour on PlayStation 4.

When is the Virtual Madrid Open?

The charity tournament will be played from Monday April 27 until Thursday April 30, with the round-robin qualifying groups taking place on 27 and 28 April.

The matches will last approximately 15 minutes and there will be a total of 24 clashes.

Divided into four groups of four players, the ties on the first day of competition will all be in the group stage.

Organisers said: “This charity initiative will donate a total of €50,000 to the Madrid Food Bank to help reduce the social impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The tournament will include a total purse of €300,000 in the two competitions (€150,000 ATP and €150,000 WTA), from which the winners will be able to decide how much they donate to their peers on Tour who are currently suffering economically.”

You can watch all of the action for FREE live on EuroSport’s YouTube channel.

The matches will take place from around 2pm-10pm UK time each day.

When has Wimbledon 2020 been rescheduled for?

Wimbledon will not take place this year, for the first time since World War 2 in 1945.

It will instead be staged in the summer of 2021.

Organisers confirmed: “It is with great regret that the AELTC has today decided that The Championships 2020 will be cancelled due to public health concerns linked to the coronavirus epidemic. The 134th Championships will instead be staged from 28 June to 11 July 2021.”
