Sports briefs: Redwood takes down MC to get home court

Redwood’s senior trio came up clutch in the final regular season match, leading a 7-0 match sweep of Marin Catholic to secure home court advantage in the MCAL semifinals next Wednesday. Zoe Babikian, Vanessa Comins and Sarah Fraschetti each picked up wins for the second-seeded Giants (13-3).
- En-Ya Zhang outdueled Elle MacDonald in the No. 1 singles matchup to lead the Terra Linda High girls tennis team past Novato, 6-1. No. 2 singles Payton Grofeld won the lone match for the Hornets (2-14). Emily Bandouveres edged Andi Cooper and Clare Boyle beat Ava Pometta in the other two singles victories for the Trojans (8-9, 8-8 MCAL) while Sofia Weinstein and Lucia Leporte led a doubles sweep.
- Isa D’Amario McShane clinched a victory for Branson with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Drake’s Andrea Iojica at No. 4 singles. No. 3 doubles pair Frances DiCarpegna and Sadie Karpay-Brody triumphed in a tiebreaker to steal a 3-6, 6-2, 1-8 win for the Pirates (2-15) to avoid the sweep. At No. 1 singles, Brooke Pederson defeated Audrey Johnston, 6-0, 6-1.
