[Women's Tennis] Women's Tennis falls to Newman 9-0

WICHITA – The Kansas Wesleyan women's tennis team played its second straight NCAA Division II opponent on Wednesday in the Newman University Jets at Genesis West Central as poor weather conditions moved the match indoors. Newman would come away with the 9-0 win over the Coyotes.

The Coyotes dropped all four contested singles matches as Paola Vargas (SO/Santa Cruz, Bolivia) lost to Vlada Litvinova 6-2, 6-2; Zofia Selwesiuk (FR/Wroclaw, Poland) fell to Isabela Bifano 6-2, 6-1; Brianna Mendoza (SO/Balch Springs, Texas) lost to Mariana Gaviria 6-2, 6-1 and Jessica Smith (SO/Salina, Kan.) lost to Mirella Calvalcanti 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles, Newman won the two contested matches. Litvinova and Bifano beat Vargas and Selwesiuk 6-2 and Emily Wise and Calvalcanti beat Mendoza and Smith 6-0.

The Coyotes will look to pick up their first win of the season on March 10 when KWU takes on the Hastings Broncos in Hastings, Neb.
