[Tennis] Urbanek, Geschke Win ITA Cup National Doubles Tournament

ROME, Ga. – Sarah Urbanek and Nadine Geschke defeated Brenau's Peeraya Charoensirisutthikul and Rebecca Pijls in straight sets 6-4. 6-4 to win the ITA Cup National Tournament Women's Doubles Championship.

The national title is the first ever for the tennis program at SDC.

Urbanek and Geschke were the No. 1 seed in the tournament and defeated McPherson's doubles tandem or Erica Paradise and Brittany Zipf in straight sets 6-1, 6-1 in the quarterfinals. In the semis, they defeated Union College's Ljiljana Pajcin and Isidora Petkovic 6-4, 6-4 before reaching the finals match.

Urbanek was also in the singles tournament. She faced No. 1 seeded Madeline Bosnjak in the first round and lost 6-1, 6-1. In the consolation bracket she defeated Ainhoa Garijo Garrido from Cumberland 6-1, 6-4 in the semis. Battling for fifth place, she defeated Brittany Zipf from McPherson College 2-6, 6-2, 6-3.

Urbanek and Geschke had to win the ITA West Regional to get to the national tournament.
