Watch Three Hot Shots: Kovalik Beats Monteiro Again In Hamburg
Slovakian qualifier Jozef Kovalik beat lucky loser Thiago Monteiro of Brazil for the second time this week at the German Tennis Championships 2018 presented by Kampmann.
Having beaten Monteiro in the qualifying round on Sunday 6-3, 3-6, 6-0, Kovalik once again defeated World No. 146 Monteiro 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 in two hours and seven minutes on Friday for a place in the semi-finals at the AM Rothenbaum.
World No. 113 Kovalik also qualified at Sofia in February, reaching his first ATP World Tour semi-final at the Diema Xtra Sofia Open (l. to Copil).
Kovalik and Monteiro produced a number of fine points in their Hamburg quarter-final match on Friday.
